  • Muslims made so many advances in science and technology. They were really interested in Zoology and astronomy .
  • Geography and Navigation 
  • Another study that was popular then was geography. Muslims studied plants and animals that were in different regions and divided the world into climate zones. They were also interested in the earth.
  • Mathematics
  • Muslims hugely advanced the study of mathematics. Their ideas were based on ideas created by Babylon, Indians and Greeks.
  • Muslims were really interested in the structure of animals bodies. Many wrote books about animal bodies and how to make medicine from their body parts. They were also really fascinated by astronomy. Astronomers at this time were able to figure out the exact time for prayer and Ramadan.
  • Medicine
  •  Muslims were really interested in Medicine. They learned a lot from the ancient Greeks and Indians. They also made many advances in medicine.
  • Most people believed that the earth is round, but they had a disagreement on the size of the earth. They came close with their estimate. They figured this out by improving calculations by the Greeks. Many scientists adapted and perfected the compass and astrolabe.
  • Scholarship and Learning
  • Scholarship was a really big part of Islamic learning. Acceptance of Arabic language of scholarship and science throughout Islamic lands
  • A Muslims scholar Al-Khwarizmi created many books that had to do with math. One of the main topics was Algebra. Al-Khwarizmi was often considered "the father of algebra.
  • Recreation
  • Recreation was very popular among the people of Islam. The two favorites were chess and polo.
  • Muslim's hospitals were separated by gender, surgical patients and the type of disease you had. Doctors treated ailments with drugs, diet and exercise. Doctors were really good with surgery. After surgery the doctors would stitch the cut with animal flesh.
  • Muslim rules often built schools, colleges, libraries and other learning centers. Because of this small cities could turn into big cities. Many of the things that students in Islam would learn were influenced by the Greeks.
  • The game polo was influenced by the Persians. Polo was a game where people would get on horses and use wood sticks to score goals. Chess was said to have been invented by India. Chess is played by people moving pieces on a board according to a set of very complex rules.
