hey how do you feel about the recent supreme court case Shaw v Reno that made the decision on whether creating district lines based on race is allowed or not
this case happened because "The U.S. Attorney General rejected a North Carolina congressional reapportionment plan because the plan created only one black-majority district. North Carolina submitted a second plan creating two black-majority districts."

did you hear about how Tennessee didn't reapportion its districts since 1901 which caused the supreme court case baker v carr?

does that mean that other states going through the same problem are now able to sue for reapportionment problems due to the ruling of this case?

yeah it caused the residents of the districts to sue the state because the felt that this violated their right to equal protection under the 14th amendment. the case reached lower court first and they dismissed the case saying its a political question that should not be addressed but then the case went to the supreme court where the previous ruling was reversed and the supreme court deemed the case a justiciable issue .

yeah, I agree with the courts decision that drawing district lines based on race is not permitted because its unconstitutional because it goes against equal protection clause of the 14 amendment
