Hey Brad! I need your help with this math problem.
Ok, you know math is my strong suit!
I'm trying to find out what x²+y²=17 is symmetric with respect, but I don't know where to start!
Easy! So let's start with your x-axis first.
We're going to switch the signs for y, so it's going to be x²+(-y)²=17.
We would then simplify, and the (-y)² would change back into a positive y², because of the parathesis.
So would we do the same for the y-axis?
Yes, but instead this time we are replacing our x-values. We change our x² to (-x²)
That would make the equation (-x²)+y²=17
The (-x)² would cancel out with the negative just as the y value did before, making it x² once again.
This would make our equation once again x²+y²=17
Oh ok, I understand this concept way better now1
Since both of our equations matched with the original they are symmetrically to both our x-axis and y-axis!
Since both our equation were symmetric with respect to the x-axis and y-axis. That means it has symmetric respect with our origin as well!
Thank you so much Brad! I don't know what I would do without you haha.
Anytime! I have to go though, so I'll see you later!
Thanks again Krysia! Now I'm going pass this Trig test for sure!
You can come out Alexa
Don't forget you owe me...
