- Now why would you put baking soda on that..
- Well I remember our teacher telling us about putting a basic substance on a bee sting because it's acidic.......but I don't really remember why
- I'm really impressed..what you did was rightbutyou mjst firstknow what exactly occurs.What was supposed to happen was a neutralization reaction. It's the reaction between an acid and base that nullifies each other's effect resulting in a change to pH closer to neutral. By putting an alkaline you had to increase the pH to restore your skin to normal.

- Oh haha that well is because that was not a bee sting...it was a wasp sting
- Now this is a tough situation when you can identify the insect..Unlike bees ,wasp stings are ctually alkaline so..
- Exactly! Now that you've understood let's go rinse your hands and gently apply some diluted vinegar .
