Holden is a kid struggling with growing up and letting go of childhood and his innocence. on page 77 on the PDF Carl Luce says "Same old caulfield. When are you gonna grow up?". This statement was said by Carl Luce after Holden told him a joke and shows how Holden foils from the other characters as he is immature and irresponsible.

You're one of these intellectualguys. I need your advice.". This shows how Carl is mature and smart and foils Holden as he is the opposite.

This quote from Holden shows how stradlater foils from Holden as he is mature and selfish
