One day later...
In this, the parish church of Thorens, Francisco Buenaventura will be baptized.
Being part of the nobility, Francisco was able to belong to the best schools that could bring him a good education. Although these are far from his home.
His future seemed destined to be at the royal court, whether in Savoy or Paris. However, Francisco wanted to be a priest and despite the resistance of his father, he was able to achieve it at 26 years of age.
Soon after, he volunteered as a missionary in Sable, an area where many people had drifted away from the church. He went to meet him through valleys and mountains, handed out pamphlets with his homilies and wrote thousands of letters.And with effort, patience and kindness, he was able to bring those people who had distanced themselves closer together.
Francisco became one of the most famous and respected theologians of his time, recognized especially for his courtesy and kindness, and for promoting a holiness within the reach of all. He died in Lyon, France, on December 28, 1622, at the age of fifty-five. He was beatified in 1662 and canonized in 1665 by Pope Alexander VII.
