  • Coronado
  • In 1519, Cortes went to Mexico. When he got there, the Aztecs viewed them as gods with all their supplies. With the Aztecs' enemies, they were taken down and it was made mainland for Spain's operations. Aztecs' also had lots of gold and silver, which made Spain rich.

The Karankawas took care of them/gave them food and shelter. Many people died on the way in those conditions, but he lived to tell about the city of gold.

  • Why can't I find gold?!
  • In 1685, La Salle arrived in Texas. He was already famous for exploring the Mississippi River. La Salle arrived at Matagorda Bay instead of the Mississippi River. He built a fort and tried to be friendly with the Indians there. That didn't work out, and when he left to get supplies, the fort was attacked. La Salle left for French Canada and was killed by his men.
