- WWII began 9/1/1939, however the U.S. did not enter the war at that time. On 12/7/1941 Japan bombed the U.S. military base at Pearl Harbor which led to the U.S. entering the war. Japan was afraid the U.S. was going to take over Asia before they could get there. They took out the U.S. fighter planes and then their ships. 2,390 lives were lost in this war

- Yes, I heard the same thing. Those Japanese thought it would be a longer battle but I guess they will find out soon!
- The Battle of Midway started June 4th, 1942 when the Japanese struck military ships and fighter jets to stop the United States from pressing on in the Pacific Ocean. The Americans still were able to stop some of the Japanese bombs and sink their ships. This allowed the U.S. and Allies to win this war and take over the island of Midway.

- Ok, general I will get Nagasaki with Fat Man on Aug. 9th!
- There was only 3 days between the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and that was all it took. With much of the city wiped out in Hiroshima and more devastation after the U.S. bombed Nagasaki. Japan had to surrender 6 days after the bombings when the Emperor made an announcement on the radio that they would surrender to the United States.
