Stay away from the small and yellow iguanas. We don’t want our children to inherit their genes.
We are hungry, so we go for the easier prey to catch.
Stay away from the big and yellow iguanas. We don’t want our children to inherit their genes.
Why did the grass have to erode? I am too big to hide now!
In the start, the iguanas lived in a mountainous and grassy area. This allowed all of the green iguanas to hide from predators, so the larger iguanas were favored. The yellow iguanas, however, have had a hard time surviving.
Times are changing, and it’s harder to find the yellow iguanas now.
The eagles in the sky are one of the iguanas’ biggest predators, and hunt the iguanas that are easier to catch.
Finally, some peace!
Now that the landscape changed, it’s so much easier to catch the green iguanas!
Over time, the mountainous area flattens out because of heavy winds causing erosion, so the larger iguanas are not able to hide effectively. This causes them to be the hunted ones and they mostly die out.
There are not enough green iguanas to eat now because most of them are yellow!
Much later, the landscape is changing again. The grass is now being lost and the land is being desertified.
Now, with the sandy and light colored soil, the yellow iguanas have an advantage while the green iguanas struggle to survive. The population slowly turns more yellow.
In the end, most of the green iguanas have died out and the area is almost entirely inhabited by small, yellow iguanas, showing the evolution of iguanas in this area.
