The Monster Are Due on Maple Street Theme: Fear and Suspicion are destructive
One major theme of The Monster Are Due on Maple Street' by Rod Serling is when everyone starts to blame each other because the electricity went out and they heard a loud roar. One example was when Woman One started to accuse Mr.Goodman, Well..sometimes i go to bed late at night. A couple of times...a couple of times i'd come out on the porch and I'd see Mr.Goodman here in the wee hours of the morning standing out in front of his house...looking up at the sky...That's right. Looking up at the sky as if he were waiting for something. As if he was looking for something. Another example is when the neighbors were questioning Mr.Goodman about his radio and suspecting him if he were using it to speak to aliens with the radio. But Mrs.Goodman said Its just a ham radio set, that's all. I bought him a book on it myself. It's just a ham radio set a lot of people have them. And the last example was when the neighbors and Charlie saw a figure walking to them and Tommy yelled out It's the monster! It's the monster! And charlie brought out a shotgun and shot the figure which he realized that its Pete van Horn that he shot and everyone started blaming Charlie for being the monster.
