Kouan-Yu, I want you to make a bell of such size that the sound thereof might be heard for a hundred li.
Nearly five hundred years ago the Celestially August, theSon of Heaven, Yong-Lo, of the “Illustrious,” or Ming, dynasty, commanded the worthy official Kouan-Yu to make a bell.
