Before marrying, Charlotte Lucas pays a farewell visit to the Bennet's household. Here she beg to her bestfriend, Elizabeth, to write letters to her and to also pay a visit after settling in her new home.

However, in another letter sent by Mrs. Gardiner, Elizabeth is reminded to tell her what has transpire with Mr. Wickham since she left Longbourn. Elizabeth tells her aunt in a letter that Mr. Wickham's affection and attention is gone because he is in love with a young lady who inherited 10,000 pounds. Nevertheless, this helped her found out that, in reality, she was not in love with him.
