- North
- We believe  slavery should be abolished because it's according to me, President Abraham Lincoln, "morally evil" and a breach of basic human rights. Therefore we demand you to free all enslaved people. 
- We disagree because we believe the survival of our economy relies greatly on the ability to create new plantations in western territories. Therefore slavery has to be kept safe in those same territories. We demand you don't change the law.

- 1861
- The South attack on Fort Sumter, a federal outpost of the North. This marks the first military engagement of the American Civil War. After some 34 hours of bombardment, the fort surrenders on April 13, and  troops of the North evacuate the fort the next day.
- 1862
- Return to the Union or we will have all your slaves freed. 
- No, we are winning the war. 
- This resulted in the civil war officially being declared and thereby Abraham Lincoln made one of his first moves. He called on the seceded states to return to the Union or have their slaves declared free because he knew they relied on slavery greatly. However the seceded states declined, believing they were likely going to win the war. 
- 1863
- I have issued Emancipation Proclamation.
- None of the seceded states took Abraham Lincoln's offer, so it caused Abraham to issue the Emancipation Proclamation. It declared, "that all persons held as slaves", within the rebellious states, "are, and henceforward shall be free." This didn't end slavery, though, as it only applied to the 11 Confederate states. 
- 1864
- The issue of Emancipation Proclamation resulted in that the war for the Union became a war for freedom. It added moral force to the North’s mission and strengthened the North both militarily and politically. It meant that 200,000 black soldiers and sailors felt unified and determined to win for their people. With the many new soldiers the North were strong.
- 1865
- Due to the new force added to the Union's army by 1865 the south were devastated and were forced to surrender. The Confederate General, Robert E. Lee surrendered his troops to Union at Appomattox Court House in Virginia. This then lead to the 13th amendment being added to the constitution and slavery was terminated in the United States of America
