Act 4 Scene 1
Eye of Newt, and toe of Frog;Wool of Bat and Tongue of Dog.
In a dark cave, a large black cauldron bubbles and brews. Then three witches suddenly appear. They circle the cauldron as the chant spells and add strange ingredients to their stew.
Act 4 Scene 1
By the pricking of my thumbs, Something wicked this way comes”
Macbeth enters, fulfilling the witch's prophecy. He requests that the witches tell him the truth about their predictions. They call forth frightful apparitions to calm Macbeth's worries and provide answers to his questions.
Act 4 Scene 1
Macbeth! Macbeth! Macbeth! Beware Macduff, Beware the Thane of Fife.
First, a floating head cautions Macbeth to beware Macduff.
Act 4 Scene 1
Be bloody, bold, and resolute: laugh to scorn The power of man, for none of woman born Shall harm Macbeth.
The next apparition appears as a child covered in blood. The apparition tells Macbeth that no person born from a woman will harm him.
Act 4 Scene 1
Macbeth shall never vanquish'd be until Great Birnam Wood to high Dunsinane Hill Shall come against him.
The third apparition that appears is a crowned child holding a tree. It tells Macbeth that he is safe until Birnam Wood moves to Dunsinane Hill.
Act 4 Scene 1
The very last apparition that Macbeth is shown is a series of 8 kings. The last king resembles Banquo as they hold up a mirror to show many more descendants becoming king.
