  • London, 1782
  • Well, Fanny, these days I can't help but feel a bit unsatisfied. Do you ever wonder how life could be if men took a laissez faire attitude towards the education of women and stopped interfering with what we can and cannot do?
  • ...But what if we aren't? What if the only reason we do not have the same opportunities as men is because they deny us the education to be qualified to have them?
  • No, that's ridiculous! Everyone knows that women are naturally inferior to men.
  • I-
  • Mary, whatever is the matter? You seem a bit blue.
  • Mary! Come help in the kitchen at once!
  • hours later...
  • I think you'll find many women feel the same. We are being denied education and have been for centuries!
  • Why don't we take a walk?
  • When you said you needed help in the kitchen, I assumed this would be a team effort.
  • And why is that?
  • HARK! Mary, I must confess I have never thought of it in that way. I'd like to hear some more of your insights.
  • Oh, do use rationalism Miss Wollstonecraft! Surely you think I don't know how to cook!
  • I was never taught how to! I can't be expected to know if I never had the chance to learn it!
  • there has been many influential womenin history thatprove me right!
  • Well Mary, a wise person once told me: you should strive to be the change you want to see in the world.
  • If women could work and learn, it would create a wealthier and happier society! We'd no longer be miserable forced to stay at home, and the rise in jobs would help our economy! I believe that the United Kingdom and every country should include rights for woman in their social contracts!
  • Two years later, 1784
  • Mary, her best friend Fanny, and her sister Eliza open a school for young women.
  • Good for you, William! I think I'm going to make a book of my findings.
  • I am. I'm able to teach young girls everything from scientific notation to writing poetry!
  • Oh, hello again.
  • In the time you've been away, I've learned how to cook a delicious three course meal!
  • Mary! It's been many years! You seem... happier.
  • ...And done! I can only hope people will read my book and learn from it.
  • Mrs. Godwin
  • I do not wish women to have power over men, but over themselves. The more equality there is established among men, the more virtue and happiness will reign in society. We never do anything well, unless we love it for its own sake.
