After that unpleasant reveal, I couldn't help but break.
For what felt like forever, I just stayed in my room trying to process everything. My brother would come to check in on me every once a while but at that point I felt so broken.
Luckily my aunt came to my rescue.
Are you okay? Come on sweetie... Let's go.
She bought me to their apartment where they helped me clear my mind up.
Why don't you rest up in your cousin's room, honey. I'll make some food for you.

That whole night I couldn't help but repeat everything that had just happened

That whole night, my phone kept buzzing from all the notifications from everyone wondering if I was okay.

That same night, a family-friend took me, her son, and my cousin to go see fireworks. It helped clear my mind a bit.
That very same night, the picture-perfect family that everyone had believed in was torn right down the middle. To this day, it's hard to say that I'm okay without tearing up a bit. It'll take a while to heal but this whole experience will never leave my mind.
