- Darnell was watching Youtube videos when all the sudden an ad popped up on his screen asking him to claim a free reward. Darnell entered his personal information.
- Glide: 2
- After some time, Darnell never received his Iphone. He thought about why this could happen and decided to look it up online. While he was looking, he received a text notification from his bank.

- BankYou have 7 past due payments
- Darnell saw a bank notification saying he had past due payments, but he couldn't explain them. He never owed any payments. He called his mom for help and told her about what had happened.

- Darnell's mom told him that this is a major sign of identity theft. She told Darnell "identity theft is when someone uses somebody else's personal information without permission to do things like commit fraud. when your bank tells you you have payments that are overdue, but you cant explain them, that it is a clear sign to detect identity theft occurring"

- Darnell understood, but didn't know what he should have done or could have done to deter it from happening in the first place. His mom told him, "you should never respond to, or put in information to emails seeking financial information. That and using strong passwords is how you can prevent it, but now it is too late and we have to do something to stop this."

- A fraud alert has been placed on your account. All transactions will be stopped until further notice.
- "You are going to need to contact your bank, and let them know your information has been stolen. You need to tell them what happened and also contact the credit bureaus. If you do this they can put a "fraud alert" on your account to stop any transactions. This will then give you, and the bank time to work it out.
