  • Ivan Pavlov, learning occurs through associations between stimuli (Pavlov,1927).
  • Behaviorism explains human behaviour.
  • Pavlov introduced classical conditioning, where a neutral stimulus is paired with an unconditioned stimulus (Pavlov,1927).
  • Pavlov's experiment entailed ringing a bell and giving a dog food. The dog eventually associated the bell with food (Bouton, 2026).

  • Urie Neisser said mental processes like memory, attention and perception should be studied.
  • This is when cognitive psychology came about as Behaviourism can't explain mental processes.
