- This is the beginning of a new unit where students are asked to share what they already know about Fractions. The teacher will gather the responses as data to understand prior knowledge and misconceptions. This will help guide next steps in the unit.

- By the end of the week you will be able to compare fractions. What do you think that will look like?

- The next day...The teacher and students will co-create an anchor chart that outlines the learning goals for the unit. It will be a working chart that the class will add to as they progress through the unit. It will clearly define the learning expectations for the students to guide their learning.
- Self-Assessment/Peer Feedback
- What is one thing you found tricky in math today?
- Students will be working on various math tasks throughout the unit. At the end of every lesson, the teacher will ask students to write in their math journals, or provide a checklist to reflect on their work. This will promote self-monitoring, reflection, goal setting, and responsibility.

- To wrap-up we are going to take out our Math journals and respond to the question on the board.
