- They aren't your parents!
- Oedipus is born to the King and Queen of Thebes. Upon his arrival, the king and queen are warned by an oracle that their son would kill his father and marry his mother. After hearing this, the parents order a servant to take the baby and hang him by his feet to a tree as a sacrifice.
- The servant decides that he can't leave the child there, so he takes him to a nearby kingdom, where the king and queen of Corinth adopt him.
- A human!
- ...walks on 4 feet in the morning...2 in the afternoon...3 in the evening...?
- Years later, Oedipus is told by a drunk that King Polybus and Queen Merope aren't his real parents. But, when confronting his adoptive parents, they deny everything. Oedipus talks to an oracle, where he is told the same prophecy. So, to prevent it from coming true, he leaves the kingdom.
- On his way to Thebes, Oedipus gets into a fight with a man and ends up killing him. Unknown to Oedipus, he had just killed his birth father, King Lais.
- On his way to Thebes, Oedipus runs into the Sphynx. In order to continue to Thebes, he has to answer the Sphynx's riddle correctly, or else he will be eaten. To the Sphynx's surprise, Oedipus answers correctly and continues his way to Thebes. After arriving, Oedipus inherits the throne to Corinth and marries Queen Jacosta, which he doesn't realize is his birth mother. The two have four children.
- Years later, Oedipus and Queen Jacosta realize what had happened. Jacosta hangs herself and Oedipus stabs his two eyes. He later is exiled and Antigone and Ismene leave with him.
