I drew a bead on him, remembered what Atticus had said, then dropped my fists and walked away,

Atticus tells scout not to give into her anger, and to ignore what their community says about him.

cecil, one of the kids from scouts community, makes a racist remark and calls atticus a disgrace.
"thats why your boyfriend cheated on you."

scout decides not to fight and just let him talk. She knew she would let her father down if she gave into her anger.
" don't give into their shenanigans, don't waste your time on them baby."

Girls from my old friend group come up to me and tell me to control my boyfriend for something he said in a group chat.
I tell them that they are wasting their time because i don't control what my boyfriend does or says, and they get mad at me for something out of my control. One of them proceeds to accuse my boyfriend of cheating.
I have a talk with my mom after school about what happened, and she tells me not to get physical or continue the fight in any way.
