You don't need a helmet on ski-doo, it's your choice. But it is always a good idea to wear a helmet to protect yourself. You should also make sure you wear the proper clothes and mitts and dress warm enough.
Bring a buddy with you. Don’t go snowmobiling alone. If you go by yourself and get stuck, you might not be able to get her out on your own. They can also help you in case you get hurt or in case you break down. If you go alone you might get lost or stuck in the country and freeze.
You should always make sure the weather is going to be good before you go out on skidoo. Because if you go without checking the weather, the weather might be getting bad later on and you would end up getting stuck back in the country. You could freeze to death if you can’t find your way back home.
You should never drive your skidoo out on a pond or river that is not safe. Sometimes the pond might look safe but it is not and the skidoo could go through the ice and you could drown. Sadly this has happened in Newfoundland a lot.
Make sure your skidoo is working properly and check the oil and make sure it is full of gas before going on a ride. You don’t want to break down or run out of gas when you are out in the woods.
You should always make sure you drive safe and do not speed. You don’t want to lose control of the skidoo and have an accident. Stay on the trail because if you go off the trail you could run into a rock or go over a bank. Have fun but be safe.
