- There was three estates but only the 1st and 2nd were privileged which meant that they had more rights and didn't pay taxes, on the other hand the 3rd estate was unprivileged and had to pay taxes
- Storming Of The Bastille
- King & Queen lavished money on himself and his palaces like Versailles,spent incredible amounts of money on dresses and fashion, and participated in 2 wars which made them broke that caused taxes to increase for the 3rd estate
- National Assembly/ The convention
- King Louis locks the Third Estate out of the meeting,the third estate meets on a nearby tennis court and they create The National Assembly vowing to establish a new constitution for France.
- Napoleons Legacy
- On July 14 1789, angry members of the Third estate stormed the Bastille and took over this day was marked as France's Independence Day .
- The first attempt at a new government known as the National Assembly. That government was unsuccessful and a new group called The Convention takes over and abolished the monarchy. The Guillotine was introduced it became known as the "National Razor" , they put people on trial who resisted the revolution, 17,000 people were executed .
- Napoleonic code-equality of all citizens-religious toleration. Growth of Nationalism-strong feeling of pride on one's country. Takes down the king of Spain- puts his brother on the throne which leads to independence movements in Spanish colonies in the Americas.
