  • Cassio
  • Iago pressures Cassio into drinking. He pretends to celebrate Othello and Desdemona’s arrival in Cyprus. Cassio is unaware that Iago’s real goal is to get him drunk enough to ruin his reputation.
  • What is this uproar? Cassio- how could you cause such a disorder?
  • *Drunk* Draw your sword if you dare!
  • Othello storms into the scene, furious that his soldiers are fighting during a time of war. Cassio cannot remember what happened and is humiliated. Othello decides he must punish Cassio to restore order and fires him from his position as lieutenant which is exactly as Iago planned
