The path symbolizes tradition and culture. In the story the community uses it to contact their dead ancestors and it is also thought to be the path of children to be born. The path has en their for a very long time and is taken very seriously by the people. The text states "This path was here before you were born and before your father was born. The whole life of this village depends on it." In this quote the priest is describing the importance of the path and its traditional value.
Glide: 2
This is a representation of the path after it has been boarded up. It caused serious cultural conflict in the village that later led to great constituencies. Michael Obi blocked it, believing it to be an unwanted distraction. "Heavy sticks were planted closely across the path at the two places where it entered and left the school premises. These were further strengthened with barbed wire." This quote visualizes what exactly he has done to the path.
Glide: 3
This is a depiction of the garden after it has been destroyed. Although the garden has not specifically been burned it was the best way to illustrate the disaster. The text says "Beautiful hedges were torn up not just near the path but right round the school, flowers trampled to death and one of the school buildings torn down." This quote represents the consequences of Micheal Obis actions.
