Central Buisness District (CBD) is the main point of a large city where all of the major buisnesses gather to earn the income. All of the major cities have a CBD, and it is usually the most populus part of a city.
Suburbs

Gentrification is when a poor neighborhood gets a upgrade by the government. The cost to buy and rent houses and buisnesses often increase dramatically. The people who lived there before often can not afford to live there after the upgrade.
Exurbs
Gated communities are neighborhoods that are seculuded and have limited access. They often cost more to live in and have extra fees to pay rather then a normal neighborhoods housing fees.
Rural
Suburbs are areas and neighborhoods that are just outside of the major cities. Cities like New York City, Chicago, and Detroit all have suburbs. Gated communities can often be found in the suburbs as well.
Exurbs are similar to subrbs because they are outside of a city, but exurbs are even farther away from the main city then suburbs are. Major cities like San Fransico, Dallas, and Los Angeles all have exurbs as well.
Rural areas are often considered part of the country and have a very low population. Farms and large factory buildings often reside in rural areas away from the main parts of cities.
