InstitutionalThis land is used for schools, art galleries and museums. Institutions are placed where they will benefit the population.

ResidentialThis land is used for houses and apartments. Lockwood provides options for the growing community. The city also considers the cost and location.
IndustrialLockwood uses this land for factories, warehouses, and facilities. The city has limited amount of land left for new industries.

In Lockwood there are 3 Indigenous communities, they are called Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh. Lockwood has services in place for these Indigenous communities. For example, ACCESS is for employment services and careers. Circle of Eagles Lodge Society, helps with support services and counselling.
Lockwood is the major urban city of western Canada. An urban area has high population density and a rural area has low population density.

Lockwood is setting goals to reduce air and waste pollution, and improve the city's natural environment. They are going to achieve this by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, reduce water consumption, reduce waste sent to landfills, and increase jobs in clean energy.
