Hey, my names Taylor, and this is my town. Me and my fellow fire fighters work hard to protect our city from flames and fear. Come along with me through my day to see how we do it!

Don't worry Ma'am! I'll use Tangent to get your kitty out of the tree and safe. I'm looking at the cat from a 45 degree angle, and the tree is 15 feet away from me. I did Tan (45) = x/15 which gave me 15 feet. I'll have to climb 15 feet to get the cat down. X = 15

Please Taylor! Help my poor Kitty!

On the way back to the station, the ladder hit a tree and cracked while we were driving. We need to get it down off the top of the truck, and repair it! But since the ladder is on a stand with an angle, to get the ladder out without cracking it completely, I need to know what that angle is, so I can remove it carefully. I can use sine to find the angle!
The ladder is about 25 feet long, and the tallest part of the stand (the area that the ladder is off the truck and suspended on the stand) is 5 feet tall. I did Sin-1 ( 5/25 ) which gave me the angle measure (rounded) 11.57 degrees. X = 11.57

Oh no, a fire! Dispatchers tell us that a fire lit inside the room of this apartment complex. We need to figure out how far the water from the hose needs to travel in order to put the fire out!
I can use cosine to do it! I'm standing  approximately 40 feet away from the ground beneath the fire. And looking at the fire from a 50 degree angle. I did  Cos (50) = 40/x which when solved gave me 62.5 feet.  x = 62.5

Thanks for protecting my city with me today, using Tangent, Sine, and Cosine! Job well done!
