Siddhartha Gautama was born the son of a king. He lived the sheltered life of a typical prince, with every luxury he could desire.
Queen Maya gave birth on a full moon in the month of May. She gave birth standing and holding a a branch that the tree grew out to assist her. Then it rained right after the birth to wash the mother and the newborn son. Immediately after Siddhartha's birth he took seven steps and said "This will be my last birth." Queen Maya then passed away one week after her son's birth.
Father, I want to fulfill my duty of being a Religious leader.
Siddhartha's father, KingSuddhodana, vowed to make his son's life as pleasant as possible and wanted him to be the next king.
But son, I want you to live a pleasant life and not leave the palace.
At 16 years old Siddhartha got married to Princess Yasodhara, and together they had a son named Rahula. They live in luxury in the three palaces that King Suddhodana built for them.
When he was 29 years old, legend dictates, he was jolted out of his idleness by the “Four Signs”: he saw in succession an old man, a sick person, a corpse being carried to cremation, and a monk in meditation beneath a tree.
Poor man
He began to think about old age, disease, and death and decided to follow the way of the monk. For six years he led an ascetic life of renunciation, but finally, while meditating under a tree, he concluded that the solution was not withdrawal from the world but rather a practical life of compassion for all.
Oh no... He looks so ill.
