  • The monsters are due on maple street theme: Violence doesn't solve problems
  • One major theme of "The monsters are due on maple street" by rod sterling is that violence doesn't solve problems. one example that supports this theme is when Charlie shot Pete van horn because he thought the dark figure walking on the street going toward them was an alien He shot without even budding to ask what it was or who it was it came out that charlie shot pete van horn. This shows that violence doesn't solve problems.Another example that supports the theme violence doesn't solve problems is the mob of people from the neighborhood were approaching Charlie's house and a rock was thrown. It hit a window that broke and a piece of glass had cut Charlie,But that didn't solve anything it just made Charlie bleed and created more conflict.finally another peice of evidence that supports my theme is that as everyone was in the mob and could find a scapgoat they all turned their backs on eachother. As it grow more anger in the crowd. everyone started fighting, breaking stuff, and killing each other, when no one was the alien. therefore one major theme for "The mosters are due on maple street" is violence doesn't solve problems.
