I hereby reverse the Plessy vs Ferguson ruling making racial segregation in schools unconstitutional.
Brown vs Board of Education1954
The Executive Order 9981 ended racial segregation in the armed forces. This was a big leap in ending racial segregation everywhere. Brown vs Board of Education was the first step in this process. This then led to reforms and protest for many more forms of segregation around the country.
You need to move to the back of the bus!
Montgomery Bus Boycott1955
No. I am tired of following the rules of white supremacy.
The Brown vs Board of Education led to many wanting to revolt and not follow the "rules" anymore. The Montgomery Bus Boycott was one of the most famous and memorable of those. The Little Rock Nine was the next big act as they were the first in an all white school.
Little Rock 91957
You are not allowed to enter this building.
Following the bus boycott, the Little Rock 9 was the next step to equality. At first the nine students were not allowed to enter because they were the first test subjects following the ruling of the court case in 1954. Many African Americans were upset by this so they went on freedom rides to protest.
We were fighting for our rights until you guys came along and blew our bus up!
Freedom Riders1961
Why are you in this part of town?
The next protest after the Little Rock 9 was the Freedom Rides. This was to protest against racially segregated buses. This went along with the bus boycotts and led to the March on Washington to once in for all have a public hearing of how blacks felt at the time.
March on Washington1963
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.
The March on Washington was a protest for all to see. It highlighted major issues and explained why blacks should not be segregated from everyone else. This got a lot of people's attention but there was still more to come with the Selma March.
Selma March1965
The Selma March was to protest the constitutional right to vote. This was majorly influenced by the March on Washington in massly fighting for more rights. This was one of the last major protest before the Civil Rights Act of 1968 which gave basically everyone freedom.
