- In 1898 the president sent the U.S Battleship Maine to Cuba because Cuba Conditions worsened.On february 15th 1898 there was a huge explosion that made the Maine sink in Havana Harbor. Many people don't know how it started but Americans blame Spain.

- In 1898 The Spanish American war fought between the U.S and Spain. They were fighting for the independence of Cuba. The U.S needed soldiers to help in the war so a group of volunteers decided to help. They called them the "Rough rider" they included cowboys, ranchers and outdoorsmen. They were led by The future president Theodore Roosevelt. Most of the major battles were fought in Spanish colonies and the philippines.Three and an half months later on August 12th 1898 the war ended with the victory of the U.S

- In 1917 The Russian Revolution took place and the peasants and working class people of Russia revolted against the government of Tsar Nicholas II. Before the revolution Russia was ruled by the Tsar; it had complete control of Russia. In 1905 many workers went to the tsar place to order better working conditions; they fired upon soldiers killing many of them this was called the Bloody sunday. Years later workers decided to strike and the army turned against the Tsar. The Tsar had to give up his throne and gave it to Vladimir Lenin. He had full control of the government and made it to communist. After the Revolution Russia exited World War I by signing a peace treaty with Germany called the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk
