  • This is Brian, a high school freshman who's been doing a pretty good job of keeping his grades up so far this year. But Brian has noticed lately that he's been getting more and more work, and it's been getting harder to stay on top of it all.

  • YIKES! This test tomorrow is HUGE. And 2 BIG homework assignments... AND 2 other small ones... and I have to have it all done tonight???
  • Glide: 3
  • Oh my God there's so much work to do. I don't even want to THINK about it. This is just the WORST! I just need a break first... just a little mental break before I get started. Yeah, that'll help! A little break!
  • Glide: 4

  • I wonder if we have any chips in here... hmmm...
  • DELAY !!
  • Glide: 5
  • The thought of all that work makes Brian start to worry. It seems almost impossible to get it all done. His mind starts to FREEZE UP with anxiety...
  • Watching videos on his phone??? THAT'S not on task! The clock is ticking and time is wasting!
  • DISTRACT !!
  • "If you thought THAT was funny, you're gonna LOVE this next vid!"

  • Brian! Time for dinner!
  • PROCRASTINATE !

  • Brian starts his "break" by getting himself a snack. Not a bad idea as long as he gets right back on task...
  • 7:30
  • After dinner, Brian gets back up to his room and is in a state of total PANIC because he wasted so much time.
  • I really need to get all of this work done but now I don't have enough time! This is impossible!!!

  • Starting WAY later than he should have, Brian attempts to complete all of the homework and study for the test. He rushes through everything. He can barely keep track of it all.
  • Napoleon lost the Battle of Waterloo on June 18th 1815...

  • This could be trouble!
  • Brian could barely sleep because he was so worried about all the things he had not prepared for.
  • I'm not ready for my test tomorrow... I raced through my homework assignments. This is terrible!!!

  • I didn't study enough... there's so many questions on this test that I don't know the answer to... this is a DISASTER!

  • Later that night, Brian checks his grades and he sees that he did very poorly on EVERYTHING.
  • Oh no, all of my grades are down. I really need to figure out how to manage my time better if I'm going to change this!
  • Glide: 13
  • The next morning, Brian arrives at school... his anxiety is on full blast. The school appears to him like something out of a nightmare! His mind is racing with panic. He's not ready for the test, his assignments are a mess... this is going to be BAD!
  • The next day Brian meets with his guidance counselor and asks her for help...
  • Thanks for meeting with me. Lately I've had trouble managing my time and I've been feeling really overwhelmed. My grades are starting to slip... Do you have any tips?
  • Yes I do!follow me.,,

  • He turned in his homework assignments during his earlier classes and did NOT feel confident about any of them. Now it was time for Brian to take the test...He was feeling even LESS confident!
  • The counselor leads Brian to the library where she hands him a book on time management, and offers him some tips...
  • Great tips!
  • And take this book... it'll teach you even more strategies on managing your time better.

  • The next morning the school didn't look scary at all!
  • Brian wasn't anxious because he was WELL prepared. He turned in his homeworkassignments with confidence. He ACED both the quiz and the test!

  • Brian reads the book and learns even more time management tips. Over the next 2 weeks he practices them and feels like he's handling his work better.
  • Thankfully I haven't had a MONSTER work night for a little while. I've had some time to develop some new work habits with these new tips. I should be ready for a big night next time!
  • And "next time" came sooner than Brian expected!!!

  • The very next day Brian gets another GIGANTIC workload. Tomorrow at school he has to turn in four homework assignments, and needs to prepare for a QUIZ and a TEST!
  • FOCUS !!
  • Game system cleared out ofmy room... CHECKPhone plugged in downstairs... CHECKWork organized and prioritized... CHECKMom will bring me a snack at my desk, so I can get started and won't waste time... CHECKI GOT THIS!!!
  • ORGANIZE !!

  • When Brian got home he was happy to see he got a great grade on everything. He knew it was his effective time managment that was the key.
  • Wow im so happy that I got a good grade on all my assignments I will definetly use these tecniques throughout my whole life.

  • Ok, it's 4pm... I have some work to do tonight. Let me check my account and see what I need to do...
  • Oh no! It's dinner time already??? I haven't even started my work yet!!!
  • Some things you need to keep in mind... Avoid procrastinating, tackle that work head on! Organize and prioritize your workload... and most important, AVOID DISTRACTIONS!
