- Magna carta June 1215
- Navagations act 1651
- Salutary neglect 1651-1764
- Issued in June of 1215. The first written document saying the king and his government wernt above the law. This impacted the revolution by representing the idea that people can assert their rights against the opressive rulers. The governments power can be limited to protect those rights.
- English bill of rights 1689
- A long series of English laws that developed, promoted and regulated English ships, shipping, trade, and commerce between other countries and their own colonies.This act imposed restrictions on colonial trade and impacted their relationship with the dutch.
- Enlightenment 17-18th century
- The policy of the British government that laxly enforced imperial supervision of internal colonial affairs was loose for North American colonies. This was all true as long as they stayed loyal to the British. This allowed merchants to independently decide the path of their businesses.
- Sugar act 1764
- Created a constitutional monarchy in England, The monarchys power is limited by the law and they can't rule without the conset of the parliment. This bill firmly established the principals of the parliments and more freedom.
- A range of ideas centered on the value of human happiness, the pursuit of knowledge obtained by means of reason and evidence of the senses. A period of rigorous scientific, political, and philosophical discource. This is known as the foundation of modern Western political and intellectual culture,
- A law enacted by the British parliment intended to stop the smuggling of molasses into the american colonies. This act was the tax on the american colonies imposed by the British parliment. The purpose of this was to raise revenue through colonial customs service and give them more power/ latitude.
