- At first,the British made peace with the Cherokee as long as they did not trade with the French.The Cherokee thought the British did not want war,but that was not the reason.The British wanted control over the fur trade.

- The Cherokee looked to Britain for protection.When they failed to protect them during the French and Indian war,they got mad.As a result,the Cherokee wanted revenge.
