According to ancient Hindu mythology, the sacred river Ganga descended from heaven to Earth to cleanse humanity. The gods allowed the river goddess, Ganga, to flow through the mountains and across the land so people could wash away their sins in her pure waters.

But as time passed, the world around the Ganga changed. Cities grew larger along its banks, and millions of people began depending on the river for drinking water, fishing, farming, and transportation.Factories and waste slowly polluted the once-pure waters. One night, deep beneath the river, the goddess Ganga awakened and felt the pain spreading through her waters.

The next morning, something strange happened along the banks of the river. Pilgrims arrived as usual to pray and touch the sacred water, but the magic of the Ganga had changed. When people placed their hands in the river, they suddenly saw images of pollution, plastic waste, and suffering wildlife.
