The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street: Dont let Fear and Suspicion control you.
One major theme of "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street" by Rod Sterling is dont let Fear and Suspicion control you. One example that supports this theme is when the residents of Maple street all came against Les Goodman because, he was the only person in maple street who's car turned on ( which he had no idea why it had turned on). This example supports the theme because, it shows that out of fear that someone might get turned on by the residents of Maple Street they then try to find a scapegoat and the scapegoat for this example is Les Goodman. Another example that supports this theme is when Charlie shot Pete Van Horn. This example supports the theme because, out of fear and suspicion of who the dark figure was Charlie instantly pulled the trigger and shot their friend Pete Van Horn. My last example that supports this theme is when all the residents started to turn on eachother and harm and hurt one another. The example supports the theme because, it shows that being feared that everyone is the monster they all turned on eachother and because they were so suspicous they all went from friends to enemies.
