- In this scene, Duke Orsino Is talking to Curio (his servant)and expressing his feelings towards Olivia.
- Scene 2: Viola and The Captain

- In this scene, Viola and The Captain were on a ship and it sank. They were washed away to the land of Illyria. Viola’s twin brother was in the ship too and he is currently missing
- Scene 3: Maria and Sir Toby
- Sir Toby
- In this scene, Viola is asking The Captain where they were at after being washed away from the ocean.
- Scene 3: Maria, Sir Toby, and Sir Andrew
- Sir Toby
- In this scene, Viola is wondering what should she be doing in a strange land. And the Captain response was that there is a Duke of Illyria named Orsino, and he might help Viola.
- I thank thee. Lead me on.

- In this scene, we meet Maria which is upset with Sir Tobys heavy drinking addiction. He asked him to stop drinking but he refuses.
- I'll confine myself no finer than I am. These clothes are good enough to drink in.
- Can you confine yourself with the limits of order? I’m worried about you.
- Maria
- In this scene, Sir Andrew arrives and Maria say “ I pray you bring your hand to th’buttery bar and let it drink.” sarcastically as a joke.
