- Slaves were able to go to church.
- Yeah! Because we have such good waterways we are able to sell cash crops like cotton .and tobacco.
- These water ways are good for transferring our goods across.

- The waterways located in the south
- We have little to no participation in the government and are from families of former indentured servants. We own no slaves.
- Society social
- The contrast between the rich and the poor in the south
- We work on the plantations every single day and have no freedom.
- We are the wealthiest in society. We usually own more then 20 slaves. We also dominate social and political life,
- We own land and have less then 20 slaves. We only participate in some government.
- The north and the south arguing over what California should become 
- I believe that California should become a slave state.  We are the main supply for the goods in the US.

- No! I believe that California should become  a free state.  We can use our technology to make more raw materials for the US.
- Thank you! I am also really grateful that we get to go to church. I think next time I will try writing poetry.

- That song today that you performed was really good. I am so grateful that we are able to go to church even though there a lot of critics.
- Once the cotton gin became popular slaves went from 700,000 to 4,000,000 before the civil war
- Since cotton has become more popular they are more slaves like me on our plantation.
- Yes, because of the cotton gin. Our owners have been putting new people in the fields. This is scary.

- Why would you ever want a higher price on goods? If we have high tariffs Europe may raise their prices on goods.

- I love how the government is raising the tariff for imported goods. That means the North's goods will seem cheaper now.
- The south and the north arguing over the tariffs being placed on imported goods and what to do about it.
