- Then mRNA is processed, introns are removed, and a 5' cap and poly-A tail are added for stability and after that the mature mRNA exits the nucleus through nuclear pores into the cytoplasm.
- And after all of that Ribosomes on the rough endoplasmic reticulum begin translating the mRNA into a polypeptide chain then a signal sequence on the polypeptide is recognized, directing the growing chain into the RER.

- Great question! Inside the RER, the protein folds into its functional shape and undergoes post translational modifications then the properly folded protein is packaged into transport vesicles and sent to the Golgi apparatus.
