Schatz and his father were at home like a normal day. The two were in the bedroom when schatz closed the windows and his father notices that he looks a little sick, as he sees that schatz's face is white, he is walking slowly and shaking. However, the father asks him what he has and schatz replies that it is just a headache and goes downstairs to the living room. Some time later the father comes downstairs and finds him in front of the fire. Schatz looked miserable and the father realized that he was burning with fever.
CLIMAX
but.... please Schatz...
The father calls the doctor. The doctor takes Schatz's temperature and says he has a hundred and two. The doctor then leaves him different colored capsules to fight the fever and influenza. The doctor explains that everything will be fine as long as the fever is not over one hundred and four degrees. And that they will avoid getting pneumonia.
FALLING ACTION
How long will it be before I die?
The father continued to take care of Schatz. He asks him if he wants him to read to him. Schatz accepts in a sad and resigned manner. The father noticed that his son was still pale and had giant dark circles under his eyes. As he read to him, the father noticed that Schatz was disconnected from what he was doing. The father asked him how he was feeling, and he hopelessly told him the same. The father read on until it was time to give him his capsules
RESOLUTION
He had been waiting to die since morning???
Schatz begins to have sad attitudes and starts talking as if he is going to die. He tells his father that he doesn't have to stay with him if it will upset him. The father gives him the capsules and decides to leave while he rests. At home Schatz would not let anyone in the room. When the father came back to see him, Schatz was still as his father had left him, pale, with dark circles under his eyes, red cheeks and a dying attitude.
The father takes Schatz's temperature some time after the capsules took effect. Schatz asks him how he is doing and the father tells him that his temperature is a hundred and two, and that he is fine. The father talks to him and tells him to relax that everything is going to be fine. Schatz, gets even sadder and as the father continues to read Schatz says what time does he think he is going to die. The father gets upset and tells him that no one dies of fever in a hundred and two.
The father tells Schatz that he is not going to die. He comforts him and tells him that he was confused about the averages. He tells him that in the thermometer used in France, thirty-seven is normal and in the one they have, ninety-eight is normal. Then he explains that it is like miles and kilometers and ends with an example where he tells him that if he knows how many kilometers there are in seventy miles and poor Schatz is surprised and can rest from his idea of death.
