  • Unconditioned Stimulus (UCS): The sudden, extremely loud, screeching noise from the fan. Unconditioned Response (UCR): The natural, unlearned, reflexive response of being startled, experiencing a spike of fear, and jumping back.
  • Neutral Stimulus (NS): The laptop itself. Explanation: Before the conditioning began, the laptop was simply a tool Sarah used for work or entertainment. It did not automatically cause any emotional reaction like fear or anxiety.
