What is Anthropology?

After taking this class, I realized anthropology is heavily involved in our lives. I learned a ton of new things that I feel like now not only have made me understand anthropology, but myself as a person.

Learning about ethnocentrism and cultural relativism was eye opening. I heard about these concepts when I took AP Human Geography, but gained a better understanding of why humans tend to stick to their beliefs and how cultural relativism is necessary to create more understanding in the world, which I think will help me in the future since I want to go into psychology.
I found the gender and sexuality unit the most interesting as this unit is applicable to our world today with many people identifying as a different gender from a boy or girl.

5 years from now I'll probably use cultural relativism and concepts of gender and sexuality. I want to be a child psychologist and to do this I need to learn to understand different cultures and values even if I'm not used to it. Also, understanding different genders, sexualities, and ways people identify is necessary for me to be open about so I can focus on helping my patients feel comfortable and get better while helping them feel safe in a world where some people are mean about more than 2 genders.
