  • Glide: 1
  • Before our lesson, I had a very generic idea that anthropology was about studying ancient civilizations and digging up physical artifacts, which I see now that I assumed was an interchangeable term for archaeology.
  • I thought it focused on the past, like how people lived thousands of years ago in ancient civilizations such as Pompeii.
  • I also knew a bit about forensic anthropology from watching the show Forensic Files. It shows how professionals, including anthropologists, could analyze bones to identify victims of crimes.

  • I learned from this lesson that anthropology is broader and much more applicable to everyday life than I thought. Not only does it examine ancient cultures, but also modern cultures, languages, and human behavior.
  • I was interested to learn that anthropologists study how people interact, their beliefs, and how societies function in different locations. It's not so much about learning about the past but about learning about humans in general.

  • My perception of anthropology definitely changed after this lesson. I now view it as a field that connects the past, present, and future as we study how human beings live and evolve.
  • It's not all about uncovering ancient artifacts or solving crimes—it's also about understanding why people do what they do and how cultures shape our world. That kind of thinking makes anthropology more valuable and important to understanding society today.
