First, the British sign a Treaty with the Cherokee to stop them from trading with the French. This made peace between the two for thirty years. After thirty years, however, this would change.
Okay, that's fine. I'll sign it.
All we have to do is sign this treaty and we'll be alliances, but you can't trade with the French.

Now we have friends!
After the Treaty, the Cherokee thought they were friends with the British. The British only thought they rules the Cherokee though. They both had different intentions.
Now we rule the Cherokee!
During the French and Indian war, the British did not try to keep the Cherokee safe. This made the Cherokee mad. They started stealing the settler's horses to show their anger.
They did not keep us safe. I am taking their horses.
The British fought back after the Cherokee started with the horses. The Cherokee and the British continued to go back and forth. This was called the Cherokee War.
You can't take our horses!
The royal governor of South Carolina prohibited the Cherokee from trading. This was to try to control the Cherokee as best as they could. This also took all of the peace.
You can no longer trade at all with settlers.
The Cherokee War lasted two years. It resulted in many deaths of the Native Americans. The Treaty the British made with the French made the Cherokee end up giving up their land.
Also, we're taking most of your land now.
