- Mushroom Kingdom is a shell of its former self. The great Mario Kart race of 2022 B.C. left the city economically damaged as all of the coins were taken off the track. In this first scene we see Grand Master Toad and his Uncle Mario assessing the damage of the kingdom. Toad being the courageous, athletic, well-rounded, physical specimen that he is, vows to bring his once great city back to power. Yoshi ponders the scene from the bushes.

- Bowser, the wise turtle, tells Toad that is order to save his city he must get revenge on the murderer of their former king, Luigi. Bowser takes Toad to Luigi's rotting corpse where Toad realizes that Luigi looks familiar. Toad gets worried as he recognizes Luigi but can’t seem to remember how. Toad reasons that he must have seen him at one of his Uncle Mario’s parties. Little does Toad know, he is watching the prophecy he has feared unfold. Since Toad was just a small mushroom, he was destined to kill his father and marry his mother. Yoshi eyes down the scene from the hill.

- During his desperate search for answers on Luigi’s murder, Toad hear’s news that his father Toadsworth has died. Toad begins to celebrate the fall of the prophecy, but he is overheard by Farmer Donkey Kong. The farmer informs Toad of his situation with a wise quote: “Thou mother is Peach and thy father is Luigi”. Toad is flabbergasted by the news as he reasons that the prophecy has become true. Toad’s wife Peach runs into the castle with tears streaming down her face. Yoshi glances from his private jet.
- Toad rushes into the castle only to find that his wife/mother Peach has already taken her life. With all his anger and fury, Toad begins to tear at his eyes with one of Peach’s crowns. He destroys both eyes so he will never have to look upon the disaster he created. Yoshi peeks from under the covers.
- Following Toad’s downfall, his uncle Mario takes over the Royal duties in the Mushroom Kingdom. The blind Toad begs his uncle to kill him now that the prophecy has ruined his life as a trusty mushroom. Yoshi towers over the palace as he observes the downfall of Toad.
