- Well, my student, John, has accommodations on his IEP. I personally don't feel like he needs them. Can I skip giving his accommodations during our next test?

- This student has a disability, correct? Before you make changes to his plan you must set up evaluations and meetings to ensure that you are following all the steps. His accommodations might be the very thing pushing him to strive in your class. It is our job to make sure we are in compliance with IDEA.

- IDEA is a law created to ensure that all disabled students are receiving free and appropriate education. It also ensures they are receiving the proper services to help that student succeed.

- Without IDEA, students with disabilities and their families would not receive intervention services that allow the students to function in our society and schools.

- IDEA is an amazing thing that allows funding and support for schools when it comes to providing for disabled students.

- Keep a copy of IDEA in your classroom to reference back to. Actively engage families in the learning process and keep them updated on progress made. Set goals for improvement that are trackable. This way you have data to show.

- Schools should host events that center around students with disabilities to bring awareness as well as supply information and resources. Create and uphold professional development to keep teachers informed and educated on IDEA
