- In the beginning of the book when equality was describing himself. He said that he was taller and that makes him evil by social standards. And how he was smart than the people he was around which made him different.
- Chapter 2
- As equality was declared a street sweeper, in which he didn't want to be. He wanted to be apart of the home of the scholars and make the world he lives in better for future generations. But also when he found the tunnel in which he found objects from the unspeakable times.
- Chapter 3
- when equality seen liberty and was amazed at what he'd seen. Her hair flowed with the wind and she seemed so arrogant and beautiful, something he's never seen before. But he also remembers his values in his society and how hes not supposed to fall in love with her.
- Chapter 3
- As the saint of the pyre was sent to death at stake for saying the unspeakable word. In front of the whole town as they watched him burned causing fear into them to not dare say what he said. But he didn't regret anything he did, as he felt joy from his actions and satisfaction.
- as equality was in the discovery of electricity, he thought back to two years ago. When he cut open a dead frog wondering why it kept jumping/twitching. As their were a piece of copper attached to it, with the knife on the other end.
- “We put a piece of copper and a piece of zinc into a jar of brine, we touched a wire to them, and there, under our fingers, was amiracle”. Indicating he had created something he’s never seen beforeand is exalted from what he has done. As he walks down the tunnel he finds a box of light bulbs and wonders why are these used, as he thinks they are helpful.
