Oedipus is walking to Thebes, and suddenly, King Laius is in a carriage with a group of servants. The king complains about the person walking too slow. Oedipus is insulted and kills the aged man, along with the servants.
It was you. You killed our king!
No! I refuse to believe this.
Oedipus approaches Thebes. He is then welcomed by a Sphinx that wants to kill him. The Sphinx wants Oedipus to answer her riddle. Oedipus accepts the challenge and answers correctly. The Sphinx is mad at Oedipus for correctly answering the riddle and then, decides to throw herself off the nearest cliff.
Well... There was this one time...

The people open the gates to the kingdom, knowing that the Sphinx is dead. Their savior being Oedipus praise him forgetting rid of the Sphinx. Later, the Queen of Thebes congratulates him and offers him to marry her, so that he can become king. She does this because apparently, the King of Thebes is dead and she wants a replacement.
NOOOO!!!!
gAfter that, Oedipus marries the queen, he is crowned king, they have children together, and so on. Later on, the city is attacked b ya mysterious plague. Oedipus sends Jocasta’s brother Creon to investigate and find the oracle. When he comes back, he says that the plague is caused by pollution on the land, in the form of the man who murdered King Laius. Oedipus is determined to solve the issue, but the problem is that no one knows who killed the old king. Soon after, Oedipus seeks out Tiresias, one of the few oracles in the city. Oedipus asks him, “Who killed the old king?”, Tires ias answers, “You did!”
Jocasta, the queen, separates them and wants to talk to Oedipus. He talks about what the seer told him and that he killed the king. Then, Jocasta mentions that when she was with Laius, an oracle approached them and told them that the prophecy says that their son would kill his father and then, marry his mother. Jocasta said that they got rid of that problem a long time ago. Oedipus, ponders on the fact that he was adopted in early age, and that he remembered killing an older man and his group of servants. Then, he concluded that he isthe one who killed King Laius.
Learning the truth, a messenger arrives with the sole survivor of the attack made by Oedipus. The survivor is the same one that carried Oedipus when his parents abandoned him. Knowing this, Oedipus realizes that the prophecy came true. He killed his own father unwittingly and married his own mother. Jocasta heard about this and immediately, killed herself.Oedipus finds Jocasta hanging from the ceiling,and then, as punishment, he decides to gauge his own eyes, refusing to see all the work he has done. In conclusion, Oedipus learned the hard truth and wants to be punished for all eternity.
