Taylor is a Congressman and he had an idea to lower the drinking age to 18. The first step to creating a Bill that becomes a Law is an idea.
After Taylor thinks of his idea to lower the drinking age to 18, he introduces his idea to a member of the House of Representatives. This is the second step, Taylor has to either introduce his idea to a Senator or a House Member.
After the Bill gets introduced, it gets sent to the standing committee and then gets send to a subcommittee that is appropriate for the type of Bill it is and then the subcommittee does research on it. This is the 3rd and 4th step of making a Bill into a Law.
Drinking Age Bill
Once the subcommittee researches the Bill, they report back to the standing committee who will then review it and decide if anything needs to be changed or added, make the hypothetical changes, and the pass it along. This is the fifth step for a Bill to become a Law.
After the standing committee approves the Bill, the Bill is ready to be considered by the full House or the Senate. This is the sixth step of a Bill becoming a Law.
Once the full House or Senate has considered the Bill and determined that it is ready to be voted on, the members of Congress are ready to vote, they do so and it only has to be won by simple majority. The full House passed Taylors Bill to make the voting age to 18. This is the seventh step. It was then passed onto the President for the final step of the process. The President passed the Bill and it became a Law.
